"SO BIG!"

I am a little behind on posts so I need to catch up for the last month!

WOW! I can't believe my baby is nine months old! It is crazy to think that he has been "OUT" longer than he was "IN!" The times sure has gone fast and it seems like just yesterday that we were in the hospital with him!
We took him in for his 9 month check-up and here are the stats: 30 inches tall and weighs 21 lbs 9 oz. He seems "chunky," but is only 50th percentile on his weight! He is going to be tall like his daddy though (9oth percentile for height). When we purchased his car seat we mostly were thinking about weight limits and so we got the safe seat from Graco that can go up to 30 lbs. Well, the height limit is 32 inches, and boy does Garrett scream when we try and squeeze is arms under the straps! So, we found him a new car seat that definitely has room for him to grow and we won't have to buy another one for a few more years!

One of Garrett's new tricks is clapping! It is so dang cute! He also does "reach up high, touch the sky" ("so big"). I would have never thought that something so simple could be SOOOOO cute! He also does the sign language for "milk" and "dog"! He definitely knows the distinction of the sign for puppy, but seems to be constantly doing the milk sign no matter if he just ate or is hungry or its time for a nap! He recognizes other signs that I do like: "dad" - he immediately looks at the door to find Colin and "book" - he reaches for the books on his shelf. He likes to wave to people too usually with one hand, but if he is really excited, he shakes them both! It's cute that he is starting to communicate with us. Our favorite thing though is that he says "mama" and "dada"! We sure love hearing those two words!

Lucky for us, Garrett is still not moving! He loves to sit and play with his toys, but doesn't crawl or walk yet. I am glad that I don't have to chase him around yet and worry about him getting into things. He is showing a little bit of interest in crawling, but he mostly just cries because his poor head just gets too heavy for him to keep up very long! He may decide he wants to crawl once we get the holiday decorations out and he can grab things off of the Christmas tree! Here are some cute pictures of Garrett and the monkey playing together!

What a good little teacher! Garrett is showing Mr. Monkey how to clap his hands!

Mr. Monkey just couldn't stop laughing at silly Garrett! When it was his
turn for "so big" Garrett thought Mr. Monkey was pretty hilarious too!

Cute pictures. I love how you have used the same monkey to document Garret's growth progress. Great idea!
