Lead me, guide me, WALK beside me!

YES, as you may have gathered from the title of the post, our little boy is finally WALKING!!! He has now been hobbling along for a couple of weeks. He still prefers crawling and sometimes gets very cranky if we "make" him walk. He is pretty cute when he stands up from sitting down (without the help of holding onto anything) that he puts his hands in the air and says, "Tah Dah!!!" That is something that his Grandma Lewis taught him that is cute to hear him say. I know that pretty soon he'll be running, so I am trying to enjoy while he just takes 5-10 steps before falling! A good friend let us borrow their walker to use while Garrett has been learning and he loves it! Whenever he sees it he says, "walka-walka-walka" over and over again. It definitely has helped him put some muscle on those chunky legs. Here are a few pictures of him enjoying his new found freedom!

We LOVE this wide open, long, crack-free river walk that is
close to our home for Garrett's walks!

A slanted driveway, cracks in the cement and
big bushes make learning to walk a little more fun!

Downtown with Daddy

Garrett and I have tried in the last few months to go and visit Colin downtown at least once a month for lunch. It is a fun for Garrett to see his dad in the middle of the day...especially on evenings when he is gone and doesn't get to be home with us. It is nice that he is so close to Temple Square and that we can visit there while we eat lunch. Pretty soon Colin's office is moving to Riverton. We are excited for him to be closer, but sad that he won't have the connection to downtown anymore. We will definitely still go for visits to Colin's work and maybe we can stay longer since he will be closer! Mostly we just love our daddy and are glad that he can take the time to be with us on his lunch breaks!

Family Fun

In the past month, we have have had a lot of fun visiting the Children's Museum and the Living Planet Aquarium. Garrett really loved all the fun things at the museum and it was fun to enjoy them on a Friday night when it wasn't busy. Because there weren't very many families there it made it easier for him to explore. We will definitely be going back and may even get a family pass there in the near future. We also had heard about the aquarium and how it wasn't that great, but we had a great time. Some great friends had told us how cheap the family pass was, so we thought we would go and check it out. Although I do agree it isn't the most fabulous aquarium that I have been to, I think it will be a fun thing for Garrett to enjoy for the next year! Perfect for a close, rainy day activity. Again, we went on a Friday evening to the aquarium and were practically the only ones there! It was awesome! I couldn't pick just a few photos, so I hope you enjoy the slideshow!

Happy Father's Day!

I know that I could go on and on and on about how wonderful of a father that Colin is to our son. I also, could post a MILLION pictures of he and Garrett from the past year too. But mostly I just wanted to tell Colin how much I appreciate the daddy he is to our son. He takes such good care of us and loves his boy more than anything! It is fun to see them laugh, play with toys, read books, play the piano, "work" outside, eat, and so much more! I remember one of the first times I really knew I was going to marry Colin was when I saw him playing with his cousins. He had a big group of kids ranging in ages from 4-10 outside playing soccer with him. After soccer they went inside and played games. I knew when I watched him that he was going to be an awesome dad! I can't believe that we have now celebrated TWO "real" father's days for him! He is an amazing dad and I feel so lucky that our kids have him to look up to! I know that Garrett loves his dad so much from the way he looks at him, smiles when he is around, and gets excited when he comes home from work. Today I was trying to get Garrett to say, "Happy Father's Day." We started one word at a time.......

Me: say happy
Garrett: starts to clap his hands (for the actions to the song, "If you're happy and you know it!")
Me: say father's
Garrett: folds his arms (to pray, you start with "Dear Heavenly Father")
Me: say day
Garrett: "DAY!!!!"

Colin and I were laughing soooo hard! WE sure love this kid!!!!!!!!

I love you! Happy Father's Day!

Our Family ROCKS!

Colin's sister has invited us to play "rock band" over at her house a couple of times. Garrett really enjoys watching us and even likes to participate. It was fun to have Colin's mom even get in on it too. I am not very good, but enjoy doing the drums the most. Colin "lost" his voice after singing a few songs! We sure have had a lot of fun! Thanks Danielle!

Good times!

We sure have had a lot of fun these past few weeks! We have been able to do some fun things as a family and thought we would share some photos from the events and play catch up on our blog!
WARNING: LOTS of PHOTOS!! :)

Colin has been a referee for lacrosse for the past few months. We were lucky enough to get to watch some of the games! I mostly just wanted to make sure that he didn't get beat up by one of the coaches for making bad calls! :) j/k We even sat through the pouring rain for over an hour one evening to support our favorite ref! You might sit through pouring rain to watch a player, but a ref?!!! Now that is love! :0

We went over to the rec center to swim one Saturday afternoon.
Every swimming pool requires "plastic pants" plus a swim diaper! These were the only ones we could find and they are a little large! We thought they looked hilarious on Garrett! Here is Garrett's MAD face that the life guards makes everyone get out and rest for five minutes! I asked him to smile and he pouted and pointed and said "water"!

"Watch out for that tree!"
Garrett and Colin sometimes don't get to see each other very much! He was pretty sad one night that his dad was out mowing the lawn and he couldn't be out there with him! So, we put him the hiking backpack and he got to enjoy it too!

This kid is FINALLY drinking out of a sippy cup! We have tried for soooo many months and he is just barely started to use one....the right way! I am so relieved now that summer is here and it is getting hotter that I don't have to worry as much that he may get dehydrated!

We went on a field trip with Dyann and her second graders to Tracy Aviary.
I was just going to go with Garrett, but at the last minute, Colin decided to join us for the fun filled morning! WE had a great time and Garrett LOVED seeing all the birds!

On Memorial Day weekend we went on a hike up Millcreek Canyon.

It was so beautiful! What a perfect day for a hike and picnic down at the bottom. Garrett loved touching the leaves on the trees, holding rocks and sticks that his dad picked up for him, and watching the water in the river and waterfalls!

We went on a ten mile bike ride on the parkway.

Here is Garrett stuffing his face with Cheetos at a BBQ!
He is sure a big boy and loves eating "real" food these days!

Last, but not least....here is Garrett and his new slide! This video is hilarious!

10 years of fun!

I know that the posts on here are usually about the baby, but this one is for me! I wanted to write a quick one about these wonderful people in my life. We sure have had a lot of fun the past ten years together....from being roomies together, studying together, traveling together, laughing together, crying together, eating together, partying together, dancing together and so so so so much more!WE are looking forward to spending more time together this summer when we go camping for the first time as a group! I am so excited! We try and get together several times a year (at least once a season) to have fun! This time we went up to Roy to Lana and Craig's place! It was great to have so much yummy food and even cook smores over their new fire pit! Thank you for being great hosts! I have learned so much from these girls and have a hard time expressing how much they each mean to me! Here is to the next TEN years of making fun memories together! I love you girls!

Three husbands and two kids later....we are still together!
Thanks boys for being so patient with us!

Garrett and Will....only 9 months apart!
I think these two are going to have a lot of fun together in the years to come!
