Birthday Boy!

Garrett is now three! We had a lot of fun celebrating this year! We had been counting down the days for months and whenever anyone else had a birthday he would get excited and say (with a little hesitation), "I'm going to have a birthday too"?! ...He wanted to make sure his was still coming and that we wouldn't forget it! One of his favorite things to say now is, "I'm a big boy! I'm three!" Then he holds up his three fingers to show everyone!

We started off the day with a surprise in his room...BALLOONS! They had to be green....his favorite color!

We felt lucky that Daddy could come home from his church meetings and have lunch with us and open a few presents before church started. Birthday lunch was one of his favorites: spaghetti and corn on the cob!

There are a lot of things that this kid loves, but books is probably in his top five! He got a lot of new fun ones to read including this one all about trucks!

Garrett has visited the doctor a few times himself and has gone with me to a few of my appointments. He loves to pretend to be the doctor and help us feel better!

This boy loves sports! He got two new soccer shirts and was soooo excited to get a tee ball set from his cousins!

He loves back hoes, dump trucks, front loaders, steam rollers, cranes, bulldozers, tractors, big rigs and anything else that has to do with dirt, rocks, and building something! Perfect theme for his birthday this year!

Some of his favorites are:
Color: Green and Pink (Yes! He loves pink because with food it means it is strawberry flavored!)
Phrase: "How about you do it?" - This is his response when we ask him to do something.
Food: Noodles with cheese or tomato sauce, all fruit (especially strawberries like his mom!)
Sport: Football and Soccer
Song: Nephi's Courage, Ole Song (Real Salt Lake Soccer), "Song of a Bird" (Heavenly Father Loves Me)
Story: "Once upon a time there was a boy named, Garrett....." (this is what he asks for everyday. We talk about what he did that day and he fills in the blanks to make his own story!) It is also fun to hear him tell the story about a girl named Mommy and a Daddy named BOY!!!! ha ha ha
Movie: Curious George, Toy Story 1 and 2 but especially #3!!!
Toys: Garbage truck, Gary the garbage man, C3PO and R2D2, army guys and army tanks, Buzz Lightyear, tools, dinosaurs
Favorite things to do with Mommy: Cuddle, make dinner, go to story time, go to friends' houses, sing songs, go on walks
Favorite things to do with Daddy: Wrestle, play football, watch sports, dance, play games and toys, ride in daddy's car.


Everyone has heard of the "terrible twos" but what is the phrase for when they turn three?!!! I know...the "THRILLING 3's"!!! He definitely wants to do it by himself, wants everything right now, and can throw a pretty hysterical fit when he doesn't get his way. It makes it all worth it for moments like today after he was totally exhausted from crying and his tantrum that he looked at me and said, "Let's cuddle, Mom!"
